LAHORE: On Wednesday, the Election Commission of Punjab sent a notice to Pakistan Mulsim League-N leader Attaullah Tarar for participating in the election campaigning of the by-elections, BOL News reports.
The Provincial Election Commission issued a notice to the provincial minister for violating the code of conduct on June 27 and 28. According to the Election Commission notice, Attaullah Taraar participated in the campaigning at two prominent constituencies of Jhang.
It is a rule set by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) that no public office holder can’t take part in any political campaign. The notification issued to the PMLN leader clearly states that he violated the code of conduct. The election Commission summoned Attaullah Tarar on Friday, July 1, for the clarification of his act.
Provincial Minister was asked to present himself before the Election Commission in person or through his representative for the clarification, the notification stated. The ECP gave time to the provincial minister till 2 pm after the Jummah prayers. Legal action would be taken under the constitution if he did not present in front of the election commission.
