ISLAMABAD: On June 16, Pakistan is expected to be pulled off the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list, diplomatic officials told BOL News on Monday.

The FATF meeting will be held in Berlin, Germany from June 14 to June 17. The panel session will decide the fate of Pakistan, and whether it would be removed or not from the grey list on June 15 and 16.

Pakistan has accomplished 32 out of 34 conditions of the FATF. Till 2018, Pakistan had completed 26 out of 27 terms. The FATF put Pakistan on the grey list for four years due to six unfulfilled conditions, a diplomatic official added. The government of Pakistan has appointed the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar to put forward the case of Pakistan in the meeting. She will be accompanied by other government officials in Berlin, a spokesperson for Foreign Affairs told BOL Media.

“To accomplish the FATF terms and get Pakistan removed from the grey list, the foreign ministry has decided to opt for a cautious strategy.” The former minister of the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) government Hammad Azhar was overseeing this matter, Ministry of foreign affairs official told.

Pressure from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and FATF is forcing the government to take away the subsidy from the gas and petrol prices.
