RAWALPINDI: Two Pakistan Army soldiers were martyred while seven terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire in North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In a statement on Sunday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the fire exchange took place in the general area of Ghulam Khan Kalle in North Waziristan District.

“Troops effectively engaged the terrorists and resultantly, seven of them were killed. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed terrorists who remained actively involved in several terrorist activities against security forces,” said the military’s press wing.

The martyred troops were identified as 44-year-old Subedar Munir Hussain, a resident of Parachinar, and 38-year-old Havaldar Babu Khan, a resident of Dera Ismail Khan. Security forces launched a clearance operation to eliminate any other terrorists in the area.

On June 25, at least four terrorists were killed in an Intelligence Based Operation (IBO) by security forces in Dossali area of North Waziristan district.

According to the media wing of the armed forces, weapons and ammunition were recovered from the killed terrorists. The miscreants remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces, the ISPR said.

A day earlier, security forces killed two terrorists during an exchange of fire in Kulachi, Dera Ismail Khan. The ISPR said weapons and ammunition were recovered from the terrorists during the encounter.

Earlier this month, a Pakistan Army soldier embraced martyrdom following an attack on a check-post by terrorists in North Waziristan.

The terrorists fired at a military post located in the area while troops initiated a prompt response and effectively engaged the terrorists’ location.

During the intense exchange of fire, Sepoy Hamid Ali, aged 28, resident of Sargodha embraced martyrdom after fighting gallantly. ISPR lauded the sacrifices of the brave soldiers and said the Pakistan Army is determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism.
