KARACHI: This year monsoon is raining more than usual across the country. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted that three to four powerful monsoon systems may affect Sindh in August.

“There is a possibility of more than normal rains in Karachi in August as well,” the PMD said adding that heavy rains were possible in Karachi from August 12 to 14.

“Once again, the city is likely to witness record-breaking rains,” he said.

Earlier, the met department said Karachi was expected to receive light to moderate amounts of rainfall on Saturday as the third spell of monsoon subsided.

In its weather forecast for Karachi, the PMD said the minimum temperature recorded was 27.5 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature was likely to be recorded up to 35 degrees Celsius.

The air humidity was recorded at 75%, south-west winds will be blowing at 22 km/h. The weather will remain partly cloudy, light rain is likely in the morning and evening hours. However, it noted that heavy rain is not likely till August 10 when the fourth spell of monsoon will reach the city.

The Met Office has forecast more rain-wind and thundershower in Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, north and eastern Balochistan, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. during the next twelve hours.

However, isolated heavy falls are likely in Kashmir, upper Punjab, Islamabad, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and north Balochistan.

Temperature of some major cities recorded this morning: Islamabad and Peshawar 25°C , Lahore 26°C, Karachi and Gilgit 27°C, Quetta 21°C, Murree 17°C and Muzaffarabad 23 degree centigrade.

According to Met Office, forecast for Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, cloudy weather with chances of rain-wind-thundershower is expected in Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian and Baramula.
