Shehbaz Sharif should resign, announce fresh elections: Fawad

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry has said that Shehbaz Sharif should resign as prime minister and announce new elections.

While talking to the media, the PTI leader said that the next course of action by the PML-N and PPP is more important than their agenda. He said the political crisis should be solve politically before taking control of the economy.

He advised the PML-N to announce new elections as soon as possible. He said their party is ready to sit and decide the framework and discuss with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on conducting fresh elections.

He said that all the political parties need to end the ongoing political crisis by exhibiting maturity. He said party chairman Imran Khan would decide when they will remove Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The comments come after the PML-N faced a drubbing in the by-polls, raising doubts on the future of the coalition government. The PTI won 15 seats while the PML-N received just four seats.

Earlier, PTI senior leader Asad Umar said political uncertainty is bleeding the economy and inflicting tremendous pain on the people.  He noted that the rupee is in free fall and has crossed Rs215 against the dollar.

He said the time has come to stop this “badly conceived, badly executed, totally gone wrong experiment”. He said Pakistan cannot be made to suffer any more for poor decisions.

Former interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that the PTI and its allies don’t want to take revenge after the party has claimed the majority in the Punjab by-election.

Taking to Twitter, Rashid said they should not be arrogant, stay humble, and should be grateful to Allah for giving such a great victory to Imran Khan. He also praised the institutions for laying the “foundation” of free and fair elections.

PTI Senator Faisal Javed said the time has come to say farewell to traditional politics. “We are becoming a nation. I pay tribute to the entire nation,” he said, adding that the people deserve real praise.
