PTI Chairman Imran Khan has expressed grave concern over the torture and mistreatment of Shahbaz Gill. He has instructed his legal adviser Babar Awan to handle the situation and hold a press conference over the allegations.

A local court in Islamabad on Friday suspended Shahbaz Gill’s physical remand and ordered shifting him to PIMS. The court said Gill was not in good health and was brought in a hospital. The court has deferred the matter till Monday and order to conduct a medical examination again.

Shahbaz Gill was brought to court on a wheelchair. He was also prevented from wearing an oxygen mask and shows signs of breathlessness. Police refused to allow him wearing a mask in court, leading to a brief altercation with his lawyers.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has also sought a report from the inspector general of Islamabad police regarding allegations of torture during the remand on Shehbaz Gill.

The court issued a notice to the additional superintendent and medical officer of the Adiala Jail and sought explanation from them for not immediately implementing order of Islamabad sessions judge.
