ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has summoned former Sindh governor Imran Ismail on August 15, for investigation into Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) funding case, Bol channel reported on Saturday.
The FIA Sindh Zone has formed a five-member probe team, headed by FIA Deputy Director Commercial Bank Circle Rabia Qureshi, for investigation after the ruling of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in the funding case. The team also includes Assistant Director Rauf Sheikh, inspectors Sabeen Ghouri, Aftab Watto and Sub-Inspector Rahat Khan.
The FIA Sindh Zone has also summoned PTI leader Dr Seema Zia on August 12.
“The FIA will obtain details of funding companies, individuals’ bank accounts and financial affairs. The team will also get details from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) including the Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP),” said the sources.
The zonal investigation team will share the evidence and details with the team established by the FIA headquarters.
The records of different bank accounts of Habib Bank Limited and Bank Islami have also been sought by the FIA, the sources said. Bol News has obtained the FIA document.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Election Commission of Pakistan announced the verdict in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) prohibited funding case and issued a show-cause notice to the party while terming the affidavit of PTI Chief Imran Khan false.
On August 5, the ECP had fixed the case of disqualification for hearing against Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan for allegedly hiding his assets.
The ECP team, headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, would hold hearing of the disqualification case on August 18.
The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and National Assembly speaker had filed the disqualification reference against Imran under Article 63.
Meanwhile, the election commission had also issued a show cause notice to former prime minister Imran Khan directing it to appear himself or send a counsel on August 23. The ECP directed him to tell why his prohibited funds should not be confiscated.
