KARACHI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Saturday visited remote far-flung of ​​Balochistan to review the relief and rescue operations.

According to a statement by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief said the safety and welfare of flood victims is the first priority of the armed forces.

“The safety and well-being of our countrymen come first. We will reach every flood-affected person and will not rest until victims have been provided relief and rehabilitated,” the army chief was quoted as saying.

COAS Bajwa said the people of Pakistan are the first priority and they will not leave them alone in this difficult time. He also met troops busy in relief operations and lauded their efforts in service of men, women and children in distress.

The army chief visited Goth Sadoori in tehsil Lakhda of district Lasbela and personally met and shook hands with the rain victims.

He also visited the relief and medical camps in the area. He met the troops engaged in relief work and appreciated their efforts.

The army chief instructed to utilize all available resources. He said the armed forces should support the civil administration for rescue, relief and rehabilitation operations.

“Reach out to your affected brothers and sisters without waiting for orders. Go ahead and work for the victims of natural calamities” the army chief advised.

A day earlier, COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa reached Karachi where he was briefed about flood situation in Sindh and Balochistan and response measures to help flood victims.

The army has set up Flood Relief Centre at Headquarters Army Air Defence Command, Rawalpindi to oversee and coordinate National Flood Relief efforts across the country in coordination with Military Operations Directorate.

Flood Relief Centres are being established in various parts of the country to assist collection, transportation and distribution of flood relief goods  to flood victims in various provinces. Army troops are shifting people to safer places, providing shelter, meals and busy in medical care to flood vicitms.
