CM Punjab pays tribute to troops martyred in North Waziristan

LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi paid tribute to the martyrs of the security forces during the operation in North Waziristan.

He said the nation salutes the bravery of Captain Abdul Wali, Naib Subedar Nawaz, Havaldar Ghulam Ali, Lance Naik Ilyas and sepoy Zafarullah who embraced martyrdom during an intelligence-based operation in Boyya area of North Waziristan.

He said the martyrs sacrificed their lives and thwarted the nefarious intentions of the terrorists. He said the troops sacrificed their lives for peace of the beloved country and achieved the exalted status of martyrdom.  The nation is proud of the eternal sacrifice of the brave children of the holy land, he added.

Chaudhry Pervez Elahi expressed his heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the families of the martyrs. He said the sympathies of the entire nation are with the families of the martyrs. He said they stand with the bereaved families in the hour of sorrow.

A Pakistan Army officer and four soldiers embraced martyrdom while five terrorists were killed during two separate intelligence-based operations in North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces conducted two separate Intelligence Based Operations in Boyya and Mir Ali area.

An intense exchange of fire took place between army troops and terrorists in Boyya. The soldiers effectively engaged the location of terrorists and recovered weapons and ammunition from their possession. During the exchange of firing, the armed troops fought gallantly and embraced martyrdom.

“The killed terrorists remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces and killing of innocent citizens,” the military’s press wing said.

In Mir Ali, terrorist commander Tufail was killed during an IBO conducted by security forces. He remained actively involved in terrorism activities against security forces, preparation of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and killing of innocent citizens.

He was the mastermind behind major terror activities in the area. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed terrorist, it added.
