Deadlock continues as talks between government & farmers produce no results as another round of discussions between the government and farmers in protest resulted in a standstill, BOL News reported on Saturday.

The third round of negotiations between a delegation from Pakistan’s Kissan Ittehad and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah reportedly produced no significant progress.

Representatives of Kisan Ittehad said in interviews with journalists that the interior minister acted threateningly during the negotiations.

The farmers asserted that the discussions came to an end because the administration rejected their demands. The farmers stated that despite Rana Sanaullah’s threats, they were unafraid. We would never vote for the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N),” they continued.

The Kissan Ittehad has threatened to march toward the red zone if the demands are not met and have vowed to continue the demonstration until they are.

As per the source,  the federal government has instructed police to remain on high alert in the midst of the farmers’ demonstration. They said that if the protesters marched in the direction of D-Chowk, they would be dealt with.

Additionally, according to sources, the police and rangers stationed in the Blue Area were given the instruction to maintain their state of alertness.

Here, it is important to note that the Pakistan Kissan Ittehad-sponsored farmers’ protest in Islamabad has reached its fourth day.

The farmers demanded the reinstatement of the original Rs. 5.3 per unit tubewell power rate as well as the elimination of all levies and adjustments.

The demonstrators sought an end to fertiliser illicit marketing and a decrease in the rate of urea. Additionally, they urged that agriculture be accorded industry status.
