ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has accused PTI Chairman Imran Khan of taking the missing cypher and using it for his public gatherings, saying that no country allows a breach of its national security.

He was addressing a press conference along with PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz, and federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Azam Nazeer Tarar, Rana Sanaullah, and Marriyum Aurangzeb at the PML-N Secretariat.

“The cypher is missing from the archives and the audio leaks have laid bare their plan,” Dar said. He further said that former principal secretary Azam Khan said that he has handed the cypher over to Imran Khan.

Dar said a serious security breach has occurred as the diplomatic cypher is a secret document which cannot be leaked.  He said the Official Secret Act was violated and Imran Khan is responsible for the travesty.

He said Imran Khan campaigned that there was a conspiracy against him but it is now clear from the audio leaks that they defamed the country and flouted the constitution.

He said Imran Khan is responsible for annihilating the country and has destroyed the economy. He said the country has been brought to the brink of bankruptcy. He added the deliberate destruction of the economy is not allowed in any country.

Dar revealed that the cypher is missing even though it is owned by Prime Minister’s House. He said the former Principal Secretary Azam Khan gave the cypher to Imran Khan.

He said now it has been proved that the conspiracy was not done by the coalition government but by him. He said it is necessary that proper action is taken against the security breach.

He said the federal cabinet and National Security Council have held meetings on the issue. He said it is unforgivable crime and act of treason if we do hold the person responsible.

The finance minister played the purported audio leak of former prime minister. “The mess created in four years could not be cleaned in four or five months,” he said, adding  Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will continue efforts and provide relief to the masses.

PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz also lashed out at Imran Khan for his “blatant lies”. She said Imran Khan destabilized the country with foreign funds as revealed by the ECP and created a constitutional crisis.

She said the entire nation was held hostage for four years. She further said Imran Khan tampered with national security and should apologize to his party and the people.

She said the audio leaks with Shaukat Tareen revealed how he conspired against IMF funding program and wants to make the nation like Sri Lanka. “Now Imran Khan is telling the youth to fight for independence from the United States.”

She said Imran Khan has hired a US lobbying firm for $25,000 per month and is now seeking “forgiveness” from them. She added the leaders some and go, but the label of treason on Imran Khan will stay forever.

She said the cypher has gone missing but the minutes of meeting are present. She said the cypher must be present in Baniagala and authorities should find it just like the raid on Trump’s residence.

“A heinous conspiracy has been hatched against the nation,” she said, adding that Imran Khan was responsible for the entire conspiracy.
