KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ali Zaidi said Tuesday that they have filed a petition in the High Court against the result of constituency ‘NA-237’ – where Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Abdul Hakim Baloch won – claiming that the election was rigged at the constituency.
He was addressing a presser in regard to the rigging and assault on PTI leader Bilal Ghaffar – who was hit by Hakim Baloch’s son on Election Day.
Ali Zaidi said that Bilal Ghaffar was hit hard and the clips of him being injured are on media but no FIR has been lodged against the accused so far.
The PTI leader also maintained that ECP wrote three letters to the IG Sindh and accepted the violation of the code of conduct during the by-polls taking notice of the incident of Bilal Ghaffar and the rigging at polling stations.
Demanding a re-election, he also said that PPP’s workers entered the polling station and cast fake votes.
The unofficial and unconfirmed results revealed that PPP candidate obtained 32,567 votes while PTI chief Imran Khan stood second with 22,493 votes.
“We have been a peace-loving political party and will keep the peace. We will act as per the law.”
The PTI leader also demanded the suspension of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) adding that action must also be taken against the Returning Officer (RO).
On the occasion, Imran Ismail said he monitored the things himself, people came inside the stations and violated the code of conduct.
“No one is parallel to Imran Khan not even Asif Ali Zardari.”
