ISLAMABAD: A local court of Islamabad on Friday issued written order regarding granting of three-day transit remand to PTI leader Azam Khan Swati.

Judicial Magistrate Shabbir Bhatti issued the written order. The court instructed the police to produce the accused before the relevant court in Kuchlak, Balochistan by December 4.

The written order said Swati was not presented before this court due to security issues and his attendance was marked online.

The PTI has strongly condemned the decision to hand over Swati to Quetta Police. PTI Chairman Imran Khan condemned the “shocking” and vengeful treatment meted out to the lawmaker.

He said that Senator Azam Swati was suffering from “severe chest pain and breathing issues” but was taken away from hospital by Quetta police and moved to an unknown location “endangering his life”.

Terming the Quetta police act “a great crime”, Imran also said it is “sad to see our justice system unwilling to stop repeated violations of Swati’s basic human rights”.

PTI senior leader Asad Umar said Azam Swati was handed over to Balochistan police and taken to Quetta without waiting for medical reports from the hospital or waiting for the high court’s decision.

“Shameful how the imported govt is flouting fundamental rights and refusing to follow due process of law,” he said.

Swati’s daughter Farah also issued a statement and said her father suffered chest pains and breathing issues late last night after he was sent on judicial remand to I9 sub-jail.
