QUETTA: Customs Intelligence has recovered 200 kilogramme charas (hashish), valuing Rs220 million, during a raid in Quetta.

In continuation with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR)’s policy of crackdown against the menace of narcotics/drugs and based on a credible information received from Director General Customs Intelligence Faiz Ahmed regarding smuggling of hashish from Quetta to Punjab, Director Customs Intelligence Quetta Choudhary Muhammad Javaid formed a special team headed by Deputy Director, Fahad Bashir and consisted of Intelligence Officers Hamid Habib and Muhammad Nasr Ullah along with sepoys to carry out the intelligence based operation.

Acting on aforementioned information, a Honda Accord bearing registration number ANL-880 was signalled to stop near Jalogir Morr, Saray Khawaray in the wee hours of 16.12.2022. On seeing the raiding team, the driver sped away but vehicle was chased by the staff of I&I, Quetta.

Seeing this, the driver left the car off the road and escaped under the cover of darkness. Vehicle was brought to the regional office, Quetta and its search led to recovery of 200 kg hashish (charas) of high quality, which had been artfully concealed in various cavities.

Value of recovered narcotics is Rs220 million in the international market. An FIR has been registered and legal proceedings are underway.

On December 16, Airport Security Force (ASF) staff had recovered about two kilogramme ice from a woman going to Bahrain at the Karachi airport, Bol News had reported.

The ASF spokesperson had said the passenger lady, Humaira Akbar, had concealed the 1.933 kg ice (crystal meth) in plastic packets in line of bags.

The spokesperson had said the ASF staff had foiled the attempt to smuggle the narcotic. After initial investigation, the Airport Security Force had handed over the suspect to the Anti-Narcotic Force (ANF) with the recovered drug for further legal action, he had said.
