KARACHI: Director General Pakistan Rangers Sindh Major General Azhar Waqas on Saturday visited different areas of Karachi and reviewed the law and order situation.
During the visit, DG Rangers reviewed the security situation and instructed personnel of the paramilitary to make foolproof security arrangements. Rangers sector commanders gave a detailed briefing regarding the law and order situation in their area.
DG Rangers visited Airport, Shah Faisal Colony, and surrounding areas. He also visited Korangi, Nagan Chowrangi, North Nazimabad, Orangi, and other parts of the city. He also interacted with citizens during his visit.
The Rangers chief was briefed that snap checking, mobile patrolling and motorcycle patrolling have been increased at various places in the city. He instructed more stringent checking at entry and exit points of the city.
It must be mentioned that the law and order situation has been deteriorating in the city after a stringent of armed robbers which claimed the lives of young men.
Instead of taking any action, Karachi police chief Javed Odho had asked citizens not to offer any resistance to armed muggers and hand over their mobile phones to them quietly.
Earlier this week, a teenage student was shot and wounded by armed robbers in Gulistan-i-Jauhar. Faizan Afzal was standing with his friend in Block-13 when armed men riding a motorbike held them at gunpoint and demanded cash and other valuables.
Faizan put up resistance upon which the robbers opened fire. The young boy suffered a single bullet wound in the leg and was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment. In another incident, a law student was killed in Awami Colony area of Karachi after resisting a robbery attempt.
