Imran Khan writes letter to CJP demanding justice for Arshad Sharif’s murder

PTI Chairman Imran Khan joined the campaign demanding justice into gruesome murder of renowned journalist Arshad Sharif.

The former prime minister penned letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial, requesting him to conduct an independent judicial inquiry into the murder of the journalist

In the letter, Imran Khan wrote, “Please constitute a judicial commission and take suo motu notice on the assassination of Arshad Sharif Shaheed. This is the demand of the entire nation.”

The PTI shared a video of Imran Khan writing the letter. It said that thousands of Pakistanis have written a letter to the chief justice until now in the campaign initiated by ordinary citizens.

The party said that PTI parliamentarians had also filed petitions to the Supreme Court for “clear investigations regarding the Shaheed Arshad Sharif case, assassination attempt on Imran Khan and Senator Azam Swati case”.

Imran and other PTI leaders have been demanding an investigation into the “targeted killing” of the renowned journalist who was shot dead in Kenya.

Arshad Sharif’s daughter Aliza also wrote a letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Atta Bandial regarding the investigation into the assassination of her father.

She appealed to the CJP to constitute a Judicial Commission to probe the murder of the martyred journalist. She added that several cases were registered against her father in different cities of the country and made it difficult for him to live in Pakistan.

She said her father had to leave the country and went to Dubai but even there, the situation was different for him and life was made impossible for him in Dubai as well.

She lamented that he was forced to leave Dubai and he had to go Kenya where he was murdered. She pleaded the CJP that they should be given justice.

Addressing the CJP, she said, “You are a influential person and only you can get the investigation into the assassination of my father carried out”.
