ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi has written separate letters to Prime Minister and Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of the threats being faced by PTI leader Murad Saeed.

Earlier this month, Murad Saeed had written a letter to the president and apprised him of receiving life threats from suspicious persons. He also highlighted details of stalking, threats, and registering false cases against him.

In the letter, the President asked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial to look the allegations and concerns raised by former federal minister Murad Saeed and address his grievances.

The text of the letter states that Murad Saeed had raised concerns that he had received threats and his life was in danger. It said Murad Saeed alleged that a “fake, bogus and frivolous FIR” was lodged against him over the incident in Masjid-Nabawi in Madinah on May 1.

Murad Saeed alleged that despite being in Pakistan, multiple FIRs have been registered against him all over Pakistan under the same charge, the letter added. The president pointed out actions are against fundamental rights under Articles 9, 13 and 14 of the Constitution of Pakistan.

The letter added that Murad Saeed raised concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation in Malakand, Swat. Murad Saeed also alleged that he was threatened with dire consequences for raising the matter and was forced by law enforcement agencies to leave Swat along with his family, the letter said.

In the letter, the President also referred to Article 15 of the Constitution of Pakistan under which every person has the right to freedom of movement and residence in any part of Pakistan.

Murad Saeed raised the issue that on August 18, 2022, unknown armed men violated the privacy of his house. He alleged that the FIR was not registered by the Islamabad Police despite repeated requests and court orders.

The letter said that Murad Saeed alleged that unknown persons are often stalking him and there are serious threats to his life. It seems as if the entire state machinery is failing to perform its duties, the letter reads

The President pointed out that such alleged actions are in violation of Article 9 of the Constitution and the law. He urged to take notice of the concerns raised by Murad Saeed.
