KARACHI: A student of NED University was gunned down by street criminals when he resisted to mobile snatching attempt at University Road on Thursday.
Bol News reported that university student Bilal Nasir, aged 21, was sitting at a hotel situated opposite the university main gate when two armed men on motorcycle came and tried to snatch his mobile phone.
Bilal tried to hit the robbers with a chair as he was with his friends at a tea-spot near the university. The victim was a final-year student doing petroleum engineering at NED University of engineering and technology.
The criminals fired two shots at Bilal when he offered resistance, resultantly he died on the spot.
According to the police, the robbers had already snatched cell phones from other NED students at the time of crime. They easily ran away after committing crime.
Police said that the deceased was the student of petrol engineering, who received two bullet wounds – one on his chest and other in his leg.
The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for postmortem whereas the police are further investigating the incident.
So far this year, the number of citizens killed by robbers for resisting robbery has exceeded 100 whereas the police seem completely unable to control the rising street crimes in the metropolis.
