KARACHI: The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja said Sunday that the electoral body will ensure that any kind of interference and malfeasance in the election process is strictly dealt with.

While sharing his message for the LG polls underway in Karachi and Hyderabad today, he said that the establishment and stability of local government institutions are very important for democracy and national development.

CEC also urged the citizens of Karachi and Hyderabad to exercise their right to vote to strengthen the democratic process in Pakistan.

Sikandar Sultan said that voters must ensure a peaceful electoral environment in the local elections, meanwhile, the Election Commission will ensure that any kind of interference and mischief in the election process is dealt with strictly.

Notably, the second phase of LG polls in underway in Sindh and over 3.5billion citizens are to cast their votes today.

The voting process kicked off at 8:00 am in the morning to be continued till 5:00pm in the evening today.

After much delay and chaos, the LG polls are finally happening in Sindh amid strict security measures.
