ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday granted bail to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Azam Swati in the controversial tweet case.

A hearing was held in the Islamabad High Court on the post-arrest bail application of the Tehreek-e-Insaf leader in the controversial tweet case.

The senator’s bail has been approved against surety bonds of Rs200,000.

Chief Justice Aamer Farooq conducted the hearing, Azam Swati’s lawyer Babar Awan appeared in the court while the Special Prosecutor did not appear.

Meanwhile, the deputy attorney general requested more time for the arguments in the case. The court inquired about the challan in the case and the FIA informed the court that the challan was submitted on December 4 and the hearing will be on January 3.

The court also inquired FIA about the chances of tampering to which the investigation agency said that the PTI leader didn’t deny the tweet.
