KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-P (MQM-P) on Saturday said they could go to any extent against the fake delimitations in Karachi, Bol News reported.
The MQM spokesperson said a meeting of the coordination committee headed by Anees Qaimkhani was underway at MQM-P headquarters in Bahadurabad.
He said the meeting was cogitating about the announcement of the Election Commission of Pakistan of holding the local bodies elections in Karachi and Hyderabad on January 15.
The spokesperson said the coordination committee had decided not to withdraw from the stance of fake delimitations of constituencies. He said consultation of the MQM body was underway on various options including resignations of the ministers.
He said the party had decided to make decisive contacts with the federal and provincial governments for correction of delimitations. “Soon announcement would be made regarding the decision made in the meeting,” he maintained.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) once again rejected the Sindh government’s latest request to postpone the second phase of local government (LG) elections in Sindh.
Earlier, the Sindh government once again requested the ECP to postpone the LG elections in Karachi and Hyderabad over security issues.
In a letter to the ECP, the Sindh government requested to postpone LG elections as the number of army and Rangers personnel required for elections was not available.
The decision to hold LG elections as per schedule was taken in an important ECP meeting chaired by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja.
