KARACHI: Pak Sarzameen-e-Pakistan (PSP) and faction of former MQM convener Farooq Sattar have announced to merge into Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P).

Speaking a joint press conference held at the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan’s (MQM-P) headquarters in Bahadurabad on Thursday, MQM-P Convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, PSP chief Mustafa Kamal and Dr Farooq Sattar made this announcement in presence of a large number of parties’ workers.

Amir Khan, Waseem Akhtar, Anis Kaimkhani and Nasreen Jalil and other leaders were also present on the occasion.

Kamal and Dr Sattar announced that they would work under the leadership of Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.

Dr. Khalid Makbol Siddiqui on the occasion said “We all shared efforts. Mustafa Kamal, Anis Khani and Dr. Farooq Sattar have come to the fore today with many hopes. They will participate in the national struggle together.”

He added that Pakistan was created by their forefathers and it was their responsibility to save Pakistan now.

Dr Siddiqui said that they would not let the local government elections in Karachi and Hyderabad take place if the delimitation of constituencies were not fixed.

Dr. Siddiqui said the situation in urban areas requires all people to join hands, asserting the urban areas of Sindh were facing a political crisis for many years, adding that issues related to census and delimitation of constituencies, voter lists and employment had not been resolved despite a number of appeals made with the authorities concerned.

“It is important that under the circumstances, the people, whose families laid down their lives for Pakistan’s formations, should come together for a historic struggle,” he added.

Siddiqui further said that the elements who wished to divide the nation were disappointed, vowing that the reunited MQM-P would live up to the dreams of the masses and strive for urban cities’ development.

Speaking on the occasion, PSP chief Mustafa Kamal said that he had left the MQM not for his personal differences but for his principled stance.

“I have no personal fight on March 3, 2016 with anyone, we have come here and we have spoken openly. We have openly opposed Altaf Hussain.”

Kamal made the formal announcement that the PSP had been merged in the MQM-P,

He claimed that because of their sacrifices, there is a peace in Karachi and less death, recalling that daily army and Pakistan were being abused and Modi was being told to open Indian borders for Urdu speaking people. He added, “I am proud of being a Muhajir.”

Kamal said that Muhajir should not have been punished for wrongdoings of Altaf Hussain, and appealed the government and establishment to pardon the Muhajir youths and recover the missing persons of the Urdu community.

He said that they did not liberate the city so that Asif Zardari would take over it. He added that they had decided to join hands for the people of Karachi and the development of the city.

He recalled that they had been made fight with every community in every area and the news of falling dead bodies used to come on TV but today this trend had been stopped and now this was a test for their leaders to maintain this peace in the city.

“Karachi feeds the entire country. Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) haven’t done anything for the province,” he said, adding that Karachi and Sindh would soon witness the results of today’s announcement.

He also advised Asif Ali Zardari to control his ministers if he wanted to make Bilawal Bhutto the prime minister of Pakistan so they would have to console the Karachiites and resolve the issues of the urban areas.

He said that they had differences with the MQM-Q and Farooq Sattar faction but for the interests of the people, they had decided to merge with the MQM-P.

Farooq Sattar on this occasion said that the 2th January 2023 is a very important day for the whole Pakistan because today political tolerance had been shown in the cities of Sindh, adding that whatever differences we had, we are going to be united by removing them.

He taunted the federal government, which is beating the drum of its success in Geneva moot for winning pledges of 10 billion dollars, claiming the amount can be earned by the youths of Karachi if they are provided chances.

He announced that they would hold a big protest on Shahra-e-Faisal against the delimitation and would not allow the LG elections to take place on January 15.

Sattar said the leaders have kept their differences aside to establish a “unified and organised” MQM-P, which will work for the Muhajir cause.

Lamenting about the ongoing situation in Pakistan, the MQM-P Bahali Committee head said: “All political parties in the country are at each other’s throats.”

He wished that this unity might bring happiness and comfort for urban areas’ people particularly and for the whole Sindh and Pakistan generally.
