PTI resignations: Party leaders castigate NA speaker over absence

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders in response to the acceptance of the resignations of PTI MNAs hold a presser and said that the process is being carried out illegally.

Notably, the NA Speaker Raja Pervaiz accepted 35 more resignations and the rest of the PTI members decided to reach the assembly for the verification and acceptance of their resignations.

However, the NA speaker was not present in his chamber which irked the PTI leaders.

On the occasion, PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry said that the members have been standing in front of a feeble and helpless parliament.

“Speaker NA is not capable of sitting here, chairs have been altered for the ones sitting in the parliament,” he added.

Fawad Chaudhry also warned the government that the country has been moving towards a situation similar to Sri Lanka.

“Speaker has once again run away from the assembly. We demand that general elections must be announced immediately.”

On the other hand, Asad Umar said that the speaker, deputy speaker, and secretary all are not present in the chambers as they are scared.

“They will have to face the nation one day.”

Meanwhile, Shah Mahmood said that the NA speaker has proven that he is not the custodian of the house.

He while mentioning a statement of the speaker said that Raja Pervaiz wrote that he cannot accept the resignations as he wants to make sure the decision is without any external pressure and it’s his constitutional responsibility to verify and now today he turned his face from his responsibility.

“We bought the MNAs whose resignations are left for acceptance so the speaker can verify and accept them but the speaker showed reluctance.”
