PTI rejects Mohsin Naqvi’s appointment as Caretaker Punjab CM

• PTI will use legal and constitutional options against the appointment

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has rejected the appointment of Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi as caretaker Chief Minister of Pakistan and announced to approach the courts.

In a tweet, PTI Senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry said they have rejected the decision to appoint a “controversial” person like Mohsin Naqvi as the chief minister of the province.

“The Election Commission has always disappointed. We have rejected the decision to appoint a controversial person like Mohsin Naqvi as the chief minister,” he said.

Fawad warned that they will protest against the decision and approach the courts. He said there is no way out against the biased system except struggling on the streets.

He said workers should prepare under the leadership of Imran Khan as they will launch a huge campaign against the appointment.

He said the election commission has proven with that it is the B-team of the PDM. He said they will thwart conspiracies hatched in closed rooms.

Fawad said Mohsin Naqvi has been given the task of stopping the election in Punjab or blocking the path of PTI through rigging.

Fawad announced they will challenge Naqvi’s appointment in the courts. He said people’s trust has eroded from the system and will come out on the street.

Outgoing Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said the controversial decision of the Election Commission is against every rule and regulation.

He announced approaching the Supreme Court of Pakistan against this decision of the election commission.

“How can justice be expected from the person who made a plea bargain of 35 lakh rupees in Haris Steel case. How can my closest relative become caretaker chief minister,” Elahi said.

PTI leader Hamad Azhar also condemned the appointment of Mohsin Naqvi as the interim chief minister. He said when the system becomes one-sided, decision are made on the streets.

He said the appointment of Shehbaz Sharif and Zardari’s frontman as interim Chief Minister has exposed the whole system

PTI’s Babar Awan said the decision has proven that the election commission and the PDM are one and the same.

He said if the election commission will act as s subsidiary body of the opposition, then it should take part in politics. He said PTI will use legal and constitutional options against the appointment.

ECP has appointed media owner Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi as Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab. The Chief Election Commissioner and the four members unanimously approved the name of Mohsin Raza Naqvi for the post.

Naqvi name was recommended by the opposition. The PML-N led opposition had also recommendation the name of Ahad Cheema for the post.
