ISLAMABAD: Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Aftab Sultan resigns, reported BOL News on Tuesday.
Sources revealed that the chairman resigned due to personal reasons. It was also said that NAB’s powers were reduced under the NAB Amendment Act and Aftab Sultan had reservations over it.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif accepted the resignation of Chairman NAB.
He was appointed as head of the anti-graft chief last year in July.
The Prime Minister’s Office has said that the premier has accepted Aftab Sultan’s resignation unwillingly while the Prime Minister has appreciated Aftab Sultan’s services as NAB Chairman.
Aftab Sultan said that he was told about few things on which there were reservations due to which he resigned a few days ago. He has told that my resignation has been accepted. “We have ended on a good note as I could not work in the current environment.”
Aftab Sultan hails from Faisalabad, he graduated from Punjab University in the field of Law, later obtained LLM from Cambridge University and MSc in Philosophy of Law and Legal Studies from Edinburgh University.
