ISLAMABAD: A district and sessions court in Islamabad on Tuesday granted relief to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in Toshakhana reference and exempted him from appearance one more time while delaying his indictment till February 28.

Additional Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal heard the case today.

As per details, Imran Khan was to appear in court for indictment in the Toshakhana case but his lawyer filed a plea of exemption from appearance in court on health grounds.

The Election Commission’s lawyer objected that Imran Khan left the Lahore High Court yesterday on his feet to which the judge remarked to present the PTI chief’s medico-legal certificate (MLC) to see the nature of the injury.

Meanwhile, the election commission’s lawyer requested Imran Khan to undergo a medical examination from PIMs.

PTI lawyer maintained that Imran Khan is advised by the doctors to rest. “Imran Khan went to Lahore High Court from Zaman Park and it took time due to security. Appearing in Islamabad court is a bit difficult,” lawyer Gohar Ali Khan said.

The judge remarked Imran Khan was asked to appear before the court in person today. “On every hearing you are seeking exemption from court appearance”

The court also said why not get Imran Khan’s medical done from PIMs and directed the election commission to provide copies of the case to the PTI chairman’s lawyers.

“Ensure Imran Khan’s attendance at the next hearing, will not object to the hearing today,” the election commission lawyer said.

Later, the court instructed the lawyer to ensure Imran Khan’s attendance at next hearing and adjourned the case till February 28.
