ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday suspended the FIRs against Awami Mulsim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed in Karachi and Balochistan.
As per details, the FIRs registered against the former interior minister booked in Karachi’s Mochko and Balochistan’s Lasbela were suspended by the IHC.
The orders were passed by Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri while hearing Sheikh Rasheed’s plea against his arrest.
At the outset of the hearing today, Sheikh Rashid’s counsel maintained before the court that the IHC barred further action against his client in the Aabpara police station summon.
It was also informed that the FIRs in Lasbela and Mochko were registered against the former interior minister after his arrest.
The IHC while barring the authorities from action against the former interior minister on the cases registered against him in Mochko and Lasbella, directed to suspend the FIRs.
Pertinently, Sheikh Rashid was arrested from his residence on Thursday over leveling allegations against PPP’s Asif Ali Zardari of plotting the assassination of former prime minister Imran Khan.
