LAHORE: More than two hundred Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) political workers and leaders will present them to court arrest as part of the ‘Jail Bahro’ movement.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan has already announced to commence the ‘Jail Bahro’ movement from February 22 to court arrest and fill up prison as part of the party’s agitation against the government. He had announced the movement will start from Lahore.
In the first phase of the movement, more than 200 political workers including party leaders will present them before the authorities to court arrest in Lahore tomorrow (Wednesday).
PTI Lahore has prepared a plan and will hold a ceremony at Jail Road at 12:30 PM in honour of the workers and leaders who will presented the arrests.
PTI Central Punjab President Dr Yasmin Rashid will preside over the event after which the party workers will march from from Jail Road to Charing Cross.
Former governor of Punjab Umar Sarfraz Cheema, Waleed Iqbal, Dr. Murad Raas, Muhammad Madani and Fawad Rasool Bhular will present themselves for arrest. If the authorities do not make arrests, PTI workers will hold a protest sit-in at Charing Cross, Mall Road.
Ahead of the movement, Punjab government has decided not to arrest the PTI workers willing to court arrests unless they violate the law.
Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi held consultations with the Punjab chief secretary and the IGP to formulate a strategy on dealing with the PTI’s movement to court arrests.
The meeting decided that the provincial government will take measures to ensure law and order but would try to avoid making any arrests to the maximum extent possible.
PTI has announced schedule for the ‘Jail Bahro’ movement. It was deiced that 200 PTI workers and a six-member group of former MNAs and MNAs will present themselves for arrest on a daily basis from February 22 till March 1st.
