Three terrorists were killed in the operation at KPO.
KARACHI: Inspector-General Police (IGP) Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon clarified that the third terrorist involved in the attack on the Karachi Police Office (KPO) has not been identified.
The police chief urged to avoid assumptions and unverified news regarding the third attacker. He vowed to expose the terrorist group involved in the attack and arrest their facilitators. He said efforts are being made to arrest those who facilitated the attack.
Three terrorists were killed and four people, including two policemen and a Rangers sub-inspector, embraced martyrdom, in the terror attack at the heavily guarded KPO. Another police constable succumbed to his injures on Sunday, taking the death toll to five.
Meanwhile, IGP Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon on Sunday visited the house of lift operator Saeed in Orangi Town who lost his life in the terror attack.
IGP Sindh met his family members and expressed sympathy and condolences. He assured them that they should not feel alone at any time as the Sindh Police was with them.
Additional IG Karachi, DIG West, DIG East, DIG Finance, SSP West and AIG Welfare also companied him.
It was earlier report that police arrested an alleged facilitator of the attackers. The suspect was arrested from Gulistan-e-Jauhar with the help of mobile phone link of KPO attackers.
Police conducted raids in various areas of Gulistan-e-Jauhar and other nearby areas and interrogated over a dozen people.
A day earlier, Sindh police constituted a five-member committee to investigate the attack on the Karachi police chief’s office and supervise the case’s progress.
An order issued from the office of Sindh Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memonwas issued regarding the composition of the investigation committee.
The committee will be chaired by Sindh Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Zulfiqar Ali Larik.
The other members include Karachi South Zone DIGP Irfan Baloch, Crime Investigation Agency DIGP Muhammad Karim Khan, Karachi CTD Operations Senior Superintendent of Police Tariq Nawaz, and Karachi CTD Investigation In-charge Raja Umar Khattab.
The notification said that the chairman could co-opt any other member required for conducting the investigation.
