Speaking to a private channel, Safdar said Nawaz Sharif challenged the status quo but was misled by some party leaders that he vowed to expose soon.

In response to a question about those who defected from the PTI after Imran Khan’s ouster, he said that parliamentarians should not switch their loyalties under any circumstances.

He maintained that it id unacceptable to contest elections on PTI’s tickets and change loyalties for power, adding that politicians should side with their party in all circumstances.

The PML-N leader said the narrative of ‘vote ko izzat do’ (Give respect to the vote) was dishonoured on the day when party voted on the extension to the former army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa.

Safdar said the elections in Punjab and KP should be delayed. He general elections will be held 2025 after the economy recovers and Shehbaz Sharif will again become prime minister.

He regretted his personal attacks on Imran Khan and political rivalry should remain political, not personal. We all have shortcomings in our life that should not be exploited in a political rivalry, he added.
