After the disastrous flooding last year, the Saudi government has guaranteed the government of Sindh that it will fully fund the rehabilitation of flood victims in the province, BOL News reported.

Over the course of the summer, Pakistan was battered by uncharacteristic monsoon rains that submerged a third of the nation, damaged two million homes, and left more than 1,700 people dead.

Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki, the ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan, made this statement at a meeting with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Shah on Thursday in Karachi.

For the flood victims, Syed Murad Ali Shah told the visiting ambassador that his government planned to build residences with two rooms, a hallway, a kitchen, and a bathroom. The reorganization of the agriculture and irrigation sectors is a key issue for his government, the chief minister informed the dignitary.

He stated his resolve that the promise of affectees’ rehabilitation would be kept with the assistance provided by the donors’ conference.

The chief minister of Sindh was complimented by the Saudi ambassador for holding the donors’ conference successfully. He promised that Saudi Arabia would assist his regional government in building homes for flood victims.

At the one-day International Conference on Climate Resilient Pakistan in Geneva last month, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a $8 billion flood aid appeal in response to the destruction inflicted by the floods throughout the country’s landscape.

Cash-strapped In three phases, short-term for up to one year, medium-term for up to three years, and long-term for up to five to seven years, Pakistan was able to acquire over $10.5 billion in flood pledges for the reconstruction of flood-affected areas.

The nation, which has a $350 billion GDP, managed to acquire commitments totaling $8.57 billion by the end of the first plenary session, and more than $2 billion in the second.
