ISLAMABAD: A case has been lodged against 17 Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leaders including chairman Imran Khan under terrorism act, Bol News reported on Sunday.

The case has been filed with the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in which SHO Ramna police station is the plaintiff. PTI leaders Asad Umar, Murad Saeed, Shibli Faraz, Farrukh Habib, Hassaan Niazi, Omer Ayub, Ali Ameen Gandapuri, Amjad Khan Niazi, Hammad Azhar, Khurram Nawaz, Ali Nawaz Awan, Umar Sultan, Asad Qaiser, Colonel (retd) Asim and Aamer Kiani were nominated in the case among others.

The case has been filed under terrorism provisions. The FIR mentions that Imran Khan reached the Islamabad judicial complex with a crowd at 3:30 pm and the crowd pelted stones at police. The case includes terrorism, interference in government affairs, damage to government and private property and other provisions.

The SHO alleged that the suspects besieged the judicial complex and smashed its glasses set public vehicles and motorcycles of police ablaze. They snatched wireless sets, pistols, cash and eight anti-riot kits of police officials.

On March 18, the hearing of Imran Khan’s case could not be held as police had clashed with party workers outside the Judicial Complex.

Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Zafar Iqbal had said the case hearing cannot be held due to the volatile situation outside the court.

The judge had said the trial proceedings should be held in a smooth manner. “Today’s hearing is not possible,” the judge had said as he resumed court proceedings after Imran Khan arrived at the gate of the Judicial Complex.

The judge had permitted PTI Chairman Imran Khan to go back after marking his attendance outside the Judicial Complex. The PTI chief had soon left after marking his attendance.

As Imran Khan and his motorcade reached outside the Islamabad Judicial Complex, the former prime minister had alleged that he was not being allowed to enter the court’s premises.
