ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has suspended non bailable arrest warrant for Imran Khan until March 18 (tomorrow), Bol News reported.

The IHC chief justice directed Imran Khan to ensure that law and order situation was not created on his appearance before the court. The court has stopped the law enforcers from arresting Imran Khan till his appearance before the court.

The IHC has issued notices to the stakeholders in the case.

Advocate Khawaja Haris had filed a plea on behalf of Imran Khan for suspension of arrest warrant. The counsel submitted an affidavit regarding the PTI chief’s appearance before the trial court on March 18.

The high court directed the SSP operations to escort the former prime minister to the court at 4:30 pm.

On March 16, Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan had said his arrest was not being made to produce him before the court, but to kill him, Bol News reported.

Talking to senior journalists at Zaman Park in Lahore, Imran Khan had said he had decided to appear before the court on March 18. He said he believed in rule of law and its implementation.

“When I had told that I would appear in the court, then why this drama was staged,” he had asked.

The former prime minister said they would not let elections delay more than 90 days. If the elections were delayed beyond 90 days, then they would launch a constitutional movement, he maintained.

Imran Khan said they would not let elections be delayed by violating the constitution.
