ISLAMABAD: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) granted bail to PTI leaders in case related to vandalizing the Judicial Complex of the Islamabad High Court during an appearance by PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

A case was registered for rioting and interference in official work against PTI leaders and party workers who gathered in large numbers at the court’s premises as the PTI Chairman appeared for a hearing.

Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Raja Jawad Abbas Hasan heared the case. The court granted interim bail to PTI leaders Shibli Faraz, Murad Saeed, Aamir Kiyani, Hassan Niazi, and Muhammad Asim.

The court granted bail to the accused on submission of surety bond of 20,000 rupees each. The court reduced the bail amount to Rs100,000 on request of the accused’s lawyers.

A case has been registered in the Ramna Police Station regarding rioting and disruption in the Judicial Complex of the Islamabad High Court

The case was registered under Section 353 of Pakistan Penal Code (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), Section 7 of Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) and other provisions.

The complaint said Kalashnikovs and other weapons were taken into custody from the crowd. It said an attempt was made to attack the judicial complex and the high court under a plan.

Police said 25 people have been arrested while raids are being conducted to apprehend others. Police teams have been dispatched to various provinces to make arrests.

The complaint said political party leaders were leading mobs who incited people to harm and vandalize the public property and damaged in the judicial complex.

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan appeared at the judicial complex to secure bail in two cases. Security arrangements at were disrupted a large number of people were present on the occasion.

The party activists reportedly removed all barriers during their chairman’s appearances in court. On the occasion, some workers stormed the building and created a commotion.
