Punjab Elections: Filing of nomination papers begins today
ISLAMABAD: A three-member delegation of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) reached the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to inform the commission about party reservations with the caretaker government of Punjab and other concerns.
The delegation led by Shah Mehmood Qureshi including Asad Umar and Malika Bukhari reached the Election Commission.
The sources privy to the matter said that PTI informed the commission that despite the announcement of the date the party was not allowed to campaign for polls in the city.
PTI also demanded that the electoral body should stop the caretaker government of Punjab from taking unconstitutional and illegal measures.
Election Commission should ensure equal opportunities to all political parties in elections, the delegation demanded.
On the other hand, ECP has summoned an important meeting with stakeholders to finalize preparations for holding polls in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) will preside over this meeting and the stakeholders related to the elections will take part in the final consultations.
The Secretary of Finance and Interior Secretary will also attend the meeting.
