Alamgir Khan Tareen, the brother of JDW Group CEO Jahangir Tareen, tragically passed away by suicide. Reports from the police indicate that he shot himself in the head using a pistol. The news reached Jahangir Tareen while he was attending a party meeting.
Alamgir Tareen was a well-known entrepreneur who held the positions of owner and managing director of the Multan Sultans, a team in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). He had established himself as a prominent businessman in South Punjab and served as the Managing Director of Shamim & Co. (Pvt.) Ltd., which held the franchise for PepsiCo in South Punjab.
Alamgir Tareen Khan obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley and later completed his master’s degree from Yale University.
Having been involved in business since 1990, Tareen was a Managing Director and operated one of the country’s largest water purification plants.
At the time of his suicide, Alamgir was at his residence in the Gulberg area of Lahore. Police officials reported that a suicide note was found, in which Alamgir mentioned his illness. However, close friends claim that they were unaware of his illness.
