Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to adopt an open-door policy for international observers in the general elections and issued instructions to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to details, a meeting of the Election Commission was held regarding the preparations for the general elections, in which it was decided to adopt an open-door policy for international observers.
In this regard, the Election Commission has issued instructions to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in which it has been said that all international observers should be invited to the elections; this work should be done in a week through foreign missions.
The Election Commission further instructed that the international observer visa process be completed expeditiously and provided with all possible facilities.
However, the Election Commission has appointed the Joint Election Commissioner as the focal person for the four provinces and has asked that the security of the international observers be ensured and security-related matters be completed in two weeks.
In the meeting, instructions have also been issued to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), in which it has been said that all equipment, such as cameras and other necessary tools, should be exempted from customs duty.
Added to that, the election also set up an action committee in this regard.
Earlier, the ECP has compiled a new list of election symbols in connection with the preparations for the general elections.
