The Adiala Jail superintendent has excused on connecting PTI Chairman Imran Khan with his sons on WhatsApp.
The hearing on PTI chairman’s plea seeking contempt of court proceedings against the Adiala Jail superintendent was held in the Official Secret Act Court of Islamabad.
Chairman PTI’s lawyer Shiraz Ahmed Ranjha appeared before the court, but the hearing was adjourned till Monday due to Judge Abul Hasanat Zulqarnain being on leave.
Superintendent Adiala Jail submitted the reply in the court and excused on making Imran Khan talk to his sons on WhatsApp.
The reply from the superintendent stated that on October 18, special measures were taken to talk to the chairman PTI with his children; adding that there is no permanent chat facility on WhatsApp.
The reply also mentioned that the court can direct Punjab Interior Department to amend the rules in this regard, stating that prisoners are facilitated to talk to families and lawyers through the jail PCO.
It further stated that a letter was issued by the IG Prisons regarding the accused of Official Secret, mentioning that the PCO facility is not available to accused of Official Secrets.
The jail superintendent urged the court to dismiss the contempt petition against him, stating that he cannot even think of violating the court order.
