KARACHI: Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday said the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) was a reality and it had remained in the power and opposition too, Bol News reported.

Addressing media outside the accountability court in Karachi, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said, “Party leaders keep coming out and going into jails, but the ideology remains alive if it has public support.”

To a query, he said Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Rauf Siddique invited him for feast not for joining his party. He prayed for fair elections, otherwise, he feared, the situation would become like of 1970.

He said he had been doing politics for 35 years and would continue to do it. He had separated himself from party matters and resigned from his designation, he said adding that he met PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif before coming here and he would go, if Nawaz called him again.

The former PM said talks and meetings must be held between former president Asif Zardari and former PM Nawaz Sharif. All those people should determine the path by sitting together, he said.

Abbasi said the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was an organization of political engineering and it did not do accountability. Thousands of people were in jails and their lives were paralysed, he said adding that it was 25th year of the organization that was made for politicians but it did not prove allegations against them.
