ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will start receiving nomination papers from tomorrow till Friday, 22nd December 2023 for general elections to be held on 8th February next year.

According to Election Commission notification, the ECP will publish the list of candidates on 23rd and start scrutiny process from 24th to 30th of this month.

Appeals against acceptance or rejection of nomination papers can be filed by 3rd of next month, which will be decided by Appellate Tribunals till 10th of the next month.

The revised list of candidates will be displayed on 11th and candidates can withdraw their papers till 12th of the next month.

Election Commission will allot election symbols to parties on 13th of next month while polling to be held on 8th of February.

Earlier, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) disclosed the comprehensive data, outlining the total number of registered voters across the nation.

This release came as part of the ECP’s commitment to transparency and providing citizens with accurate electoral information.

As per the latest voters’ data unveiled by the ECP, the total number of registered voters stands at 128,585,760. Within this demographic, 69,263,704 individuals identify as male, constituting a significant portion of the electorate. Simultaneously, the female voter count is recorded at 59,322,056, showcasing a strong and active participation of women in the electoral process.

This disclosure is in line with the Election Commission’s ongoing efforts to maintain an updated and accessible record of the nation’s voting population.

Earlier, training of District Returning Officers and Returning Officers resumed across the country.
