NAB files corruption reference against Pervez, Moonis Elahi
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has filed a corruption reference of over Rs1 billion against former Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and others, with charges of kickbacks by awarding contracts for development schemes in Gujrat to their favourite contractors.
In the NAB reference, Pervez Elahi and his son Moonis Elahi have been named as the main accused, and it has been said that Parvez Elahi, Moonis Elahi and other accused were found involved in the national treasury.
According to the reference, Pervez and Moonis Elahi illegally approved 116 development schemes, along with awarding contracts to their favorite contractors.
It was revealed that the father and son took bribes more than Rs 744.5 million bribes in terms of kickbacks.
The NAB reference stated that the accountant kept depositing kickbacks in the accounts of Moonis Elahi and his family.
Added that Moonis Elahi deposited 1 million 61 thousand Eros in his foreign bank account, Pervaiz Elahi’s family members deposited 304 million in their personal accounts.
