A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) international flight escaped a possible accident when one of its airplane engines caught fire during a journey from Karachi to Medina.
Initial reports indicate that shortly after takeoff, the PIA flight encountered engine malfunctions leading to a mid-air fire.
The flight captains adeptly took charge of the situation, successfully extinguishing the engine fire using a fire bottle. With clearance from the Air Traffic Controller (ATC), the flight made an emergency landing at Karachi Airport.
All 276 passengers on board were safely evacuated and relocated to a hotel, while 92 passengers opted to return home.
A spokesperson for PIA mentioned that the rescheduled departure for the flight from Karachi to Medina is now set for 5 pm local time.
