Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leader and former minister Hammad Azhar has announced his withdrawal from the general elections.

In the Supreme Court (SC), Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Jamal Mandukhel heard the case related to the rejection of Hammad Azhar’s nomination papers, in which the assistant counsel told the court that Hammad Azhar did not want to pursue the appeal.

Justice Mansoor questioned why the High Court referred to 62-1S in its decision. The decision of the SC is clear: Article 62 1F does not automatically apply. Justice Mansoor said that Hammad Azhar will not benefit from the decision due to the withdrawal of his appeal. Justice Jamal said that it seems that Hamaad Azhar does not want to surrender.

Later, Hammad Azhar’s lawyer withdrew the appeal from the court and also announced withdrawal from the general polls. It should be noted that PTI leader Hammad Azhar was an independent candidate from NA 129.

Earlier, Founder PTI and Bushra Bibi both were sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment in the Tosha Khana case. Islamabad Accountability Court Judge Mohammad Bashir sentenced founder PTI and Bushra Bibi in the Tosha Khana case.
