According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), widespread rains, isolated hailstorms, and heavy snowfall in mountainous areas are expected in Peshawar and various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from Thursday night through Friday and Saturday.
A strong westerly wave prevailing over western Pakistan is forecasted to affect most areas of the country until Sunday, March 3rd.
Under these circumstances, rain, wind, and thunderstorms, along with snowfall in hilly regions, are anticipated in numerous areas, including Chitral, Dir, Swat, and Abbottabad, among others, during Thursday night and the subsequent two days. Heavy rainfall and hailstorms may occur at isolated locations during this period.
The heavy rains could lead to flash flooding in hill torrents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday and Saturday, potentially causing road closures in Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, and other areas.
Peshawar’s minimum temperature is expected to range between 08-10 degrees Celsius on Friday and Saturday.
Over the last 24 hours, cold and dry weather prevailed in most districts of the province, with freezing temperatures observed in upper districts. Parachinar received 17 mm of rain, while Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, and Chitral received lesser amounts.
Kalam registered as the coldest location in the province, with temperatures dropping 06 degrees Celsius below freezing.
In Peshawar, the minimum temperature was recorded at 09 degrees Celsius, with relative humidity during the evening at 70 percent.
