KARACHI: Anwar Maqsood, Pakistan’s renowned scriptwriter, host, satirist, and humorist, firmly refuted rumors circulating on social media claiming that he was abducted, tortured, and threatened by unknown individuals a few days ago.

Over the past few days, there have been reports circulating on social media alleging that Maqsood was abducted and subjected to threats, torture, and physical assault in order to silence his criticisms against the current government and its supporters.

In response to these rumors, the esteemed artist stated, “The news being circulated about me on social media is completely false.” He dismissed the reports as “fake news” and urged his followers to disregard the unfounded claims.

Maqsood clarified that he does not have any presence on social media platforms and does not engage with them. He further mentioned that he became aware of the rumors through telephone calls from concerned individuals.

“I vehemently deny all such allegations and condemn those who spread such false information without verifying its authenticity,” Maqsood added, emphasizing his stance on the matter.
