In anticipation of the 23rd March parade and festivities, the Islamabad Traffic Police has released a detailed traffic plan to ensure a smooth flow of traffic in the capital. The plan includes strategic steps to handle the surge of vehicles during the parade and the full rehearsal day.
A spokesperson for the traffic police shared that major traffic entry points will be temporarily shut from midnight to 2 pm on March 17, 19, 21, and 23. This temporary closure is designed to ease traffic movement, particularly from Lahore, by diverting it through alternate routes such as GT Road via Rawalpindi Saddar Road to Peshawar GT Road and Motorway.
For those traveling from Koral Chowk and Rawalpindi, the designated entry points into Islamabad are Khanna Pul, Lehtrar Road, and Park Road. Furthermore, smaller vehicles have the option to take routes via Bhara Kahu and Murree from Kashmir Chowk to reach their destinations.
Faizabad will be closed to all traffic during the parade to provide a clear route for parade participants and to enhance security measures. The Pakistan Day parade, also known as the National Day Joint Services parade, is set to occur on March 23 at Parade Ground Islamabad.
As the country celebrates the historic Lahore Resolution passed on March 23, 1940, a day of significant cultural and patriotic value, it is observed as a public holiday nationwide. The traffic plan is designed to assist both residents and visitors while ensuring safety and order during the Islamabad celebrations.
