The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Saturday has rejected the recent presidential election.

In this regard, PTI Chairman Gohar Khan said that we had the required majority in the Electoral College, occupying constitutional positions in an unconstitutional manner is a violation of the Constitution.

He said that these people shared positions without qualification and democratic values, earlier two families were controlling the resources of the country, now these two families are also occupying the institutions and their positions.

The PTI chairman added that Zardari’s victory will not bode well for democracy or the strength of parliament.

Umar Ayub said that a nominal presidential election was held today in Parliament, PTI candidates were defeated by cheating on Form 45, Shehbaz Sharif became Prime Minister by manipulating Form 45.

He said that Shahbaz Sharif is a stranger in the House, candidates for certain seats took illegal oath on Friday.

Earlier, Asif Ali Zardari, the candidate of the government coalition, was elected as the 14th President of the country with 411 electoral votes against Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) candidate Mehmood Khan Achakzai, who has amassed 181 electoral votes.

The polling process for the presidential elections in the National Assembly, Senate, and the four provincial assemblies started at 10 a.m. and continued till 4 p.m. Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s party, JUI (F), boycotted the election process, while the members of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) in Parliament and Provincial Assemblies also did not cast their votes.
