ISLAMABAD: Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Barrister Gohar Ali reiterated the party’s commitment to its decision to form an alliance with the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC).

In a statement released, Barrister Gohar Ali acknowledged that while some party leaders held differing opinions regarding the alliance with SIC, the majority supported the decision.

He emphasized that the decision was deemed appropriate by the party, contrasting it with the decision-making processes of other parties like Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), stating that PTI’s decisions are made through consultation with its members and core committee meetings.

Addressing Sher Afzal Marwat’s criticism of the alliance, where he labeled it a mistake, Barrister Gohar Ali stated that Marwat’s viewpoint was his own.

He affirmed PTI’s commitment to active participation in parliamentary politics, ruling out any boycotts or resignations from assemblies.

Earlier, on March 15, PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat expressed regret over the party’s merger with the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), describing it as a mistake and calling for an investigation into what he perceived as incorrect decisions made by the party.

Marwat highlighted the consequences of the alliance, particularly in terms of losing reserved seats. PTI had formed an alliance with the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) to secure its quota of reserved seats in the national, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies.
