For Ramadan 2024, the Shariah Board of Pakistan has standardized the value of Sadaqah-e-Fitr and Fidya at Rs300.

The Board’s Chairman, Professor Dr. Mufti Muhammad Zafar Iqbal Jalali, declared the base rate for Fidyah, which is the sum to be donated to the less fortunate by those who cannot fast due to sickness.

The minimum Fitrana amount is Rs300 per individual, equivalent to 2kgs of wheat flour. If a fast is missed due to ill health or other reasons, the Fidya is Rs300 per individual.

The chairman of the Shariah Board emphasized the importance of contributing Sadaqah-e-Fitr and Fidya according to one’s financial means. The assigned values for various food items are Rs600 for oats, Rs2,400 for dates, and Rs4,400 for raisins.

For the entire duration of the Holy Month, the Fidya rates are set at Rs9,000 for wheat flour, Rs18,000 for oats, Rs72,000 for dates, and Rs132,000 for raisins. For those who are not familiar, Fidya is the amount to be donated to the poor by those who are sick or unable to fast with no chance of recovery.

It should be noted that travelers and those who are temporarily unable to fast are obligated to compensate for missed fasts, as Fidya cannot replace the act of fasting.
