QUETTA: Eight people were killed and nine others injured as continuous rainfalls wreaked havoc on Balochistan on Wednesday.

Casualties and injuries took place due to collapse of houses and lightning, killing livestock in different districts of the province.

Unabated rains inundated low-lying areas of the province, damaging standing crops and orchards. Due to the closure of many main arteries, land connectivity of many areas has also been cut off.

Uninterrupted rains have destroyed the sewerage system of provincial capital as main holes and drains overflew, presenting the view of watercourse. Sewage also entered houses, creating severe problems for the locals.

The vehicular traffic on Quetta-Ziarat highway was suspended due to landsliding whereas the road connecting Quetta to Sindh province was closed down.

The recent rains badly affected the coastal areas of the province and the condition went worse in Kach and Gwadar where rooftops of many houses caved in and people were forced to spend life under the open sky.

The people of distant areas are awaiting for the government’s aid and commencement of relief activities in their localities.
